Hmmm that is interesting....I work for Red Hat as a field product manager in Asia. We have a product called IPA or freeIPA on Fedora that I hope you are familiar with. It offers a KDC backed by FDS all in a simple and easy to setup manner.

My interest in zivios is to see how your management work could be combined with the freeIPA efforts. I can see great solutions for that in the field here and quite a few RHEL customers that would be keen to explore this provided its an integrated solution.

Feel free to contact me offline to discuss further at frank dot feldmann at redhat dot com.

Frank,
Zivios speaks to Openldap as a ldap client, so using FDS in that regard is a non-issue. However, we also tie in Heimdal-Ldap and Samba smbk5pwd with Openldap. Since the integration of these two core components is openldap-specific we would need some work to move away from them. (unless FDS provides a KDC)

Hi Frank.

The new release of Zivios coming in December will absolutely have support for RHEL as well as Fedora. One of the reasons our repositories have been slightly quiet in terms of updates being pushed is because of package building and testing on various distributions.

Expect official rpms and debs from our end with the next release. I can confirm support for CentOS-5 & Fedora 10.

As far as support for RH directory server or eDirectory is concerned, there is no such plan as of right now. Is there something specific about these directory implementations that make them more attractive than OpenLDAP?

Are there any plans or maybe installation / configuration instructions for running this on Fedora / RHEL?

Also do you support / is it possible for an end user to swap the openldap server for something like eDirectory or Red Hat Directory server?

Love your work, looks very promising technology.

Error 531 could mean a couple of things. Have you got a properly configured hostname for the machine Zivios is being installed on?

We can help you better on our mailing lists and our IRC channel, so I invite you to join us there.
